Custom Fireplace
Material: Linac Marble 2 cm, Turkey
Our brief was to transform an outdated masonry brick facade fireplace to fit a contemporary space. The challenge was to house all the electronics with a functional fireplace which would be focal point of the living room.
A custom wood sub structure was built to house and separate all the electronic components from the actual fireplace. The unique design created allowed both the fireplace and the home theater system components to coexist in one space while allowing for proper air circulation. The specially imported marble “Linac” from Turkey was then used as a wrap for the surround. Vertical Miter lamination at the joints was used to create a seamless modern design. While it was extremely difficult to match the pattern and seams due to the height of the piece as well as the fragility of the material, the outcome far exceeded the client’s expectations.
