Prep Work for Your Laser Measurement

Prep Work for Your

Laser Measurement

How to prepare your space for the most accurate, precise countertop fabrication possible.

Your stone has been chosen. Now it’s time to capture your space with precision. The measurement appointment is where vision meets accuracy, the critical step before we begin fabrication.

Our tools are exact, but your space must be fully ready for the process to run smoothly.

Have a question about your upcoming measurement?

What the Measurement Appointment Involves

This is where precision begins. One of our technicians will visit your home to take laser-accurate measurements of your kitchen or bath. These measurements guide every cut, seam, and edge of your finished stonework.
Once complete, these details are used to build your digital layout. You’ll review and approve this layout before fabrication begins.

What Needs to Be

Ready Before We Arrive

To keep your project moving without delay, your space must be fully prepared before our technician arrives. Here’s what to check off in advance of your measurement appointment:

Cabinets must be fully installed
All base cabinets should be permanently secured, level, and in their final position. There should be no temporary countertops or movable pieces. If you have an island, it must be fixed and installed prior to measurement.

Be ready to confirm edge profiles, backsplash height, and overhang details. If you’re planning a waterfall edge or bar seating extension, this is the time to finalize those decisions.
Someone with the authority to approve design details should be present during the measurement. This is especially important if seam placement or layout adjustments are being finalized on-site.

Appliances must be on-site, or specifications provided

If possible, have your cooktop, range, sink, and faucet on-site. If not, be ready to provide detailed specs or model numbers. Custom and farmhouse sinks should already be installed.

Clear off all surfaces

Remove any tools, dishes, or items from countertops. The technician needs clear access to every area that will receive stone.

Confirm your final selections

Be ready to confirm edge profiles, backsplash height, and overhang details. If you’re planning a waterfall edge or bar seating extension, this is the time to finalize those decisions.

Have a decision-maker present

Someone with the authority to approve design details should be present during the measurement. This is especially important if seam placement or layout adjustments are being finalized on-site.

What Happens After We Measure

Once we’ve taken the final measurements, our team uses that data to create a precise digital layout of your project. This layout maps out exactly how your selected slab will be cut and positioned in your space.

You’ll review and approve key details, including vein direction, seam location, and your chosen edge profile. If anything needs to be adjusted, this is the moment to speak up; nothing is cut until you’re fully confident in the design.

After your approval, fabrication begins. For in-stock materials, most projects are installed within 10 to 15 business days.
